Overview

Itinerary
Longshuixia Gorge & Three Natural Bridges
7:00 AM โ Depart Chongqing
Your guide picks you up from your hotel. The 280-kilometer drive takes about 3 hours along the expressway through the Wuling Mountains. The route itself is scenic โ green valleys, terraced hillsides, and tunnel after tunnel through limestone ridges.
10:00 AM โ Longshuixia Gorge (Long Shui Xia Di Feng)
Arrive at the gorge and enter via a winding mountain path. Descend alongside the canyon walls. An 80-meter waterfall crashes into the ravine below. Walk along suspended plank roads past underground rivers, moss-covered cliffs, and natural skylights opening to the sky above. The gorge is 5-8ยฐC cooler than the city above โ a welcome escape on warm days. Allow about 2 hours for the full loop.
12:00 PM โ Lunch break
Head to Xiannvshan Town for lunch. Options are flexible: bring your own packed lunch from Chongqing, or eat at one of the local restaurants. Regional specialties include Wulong braised lamb (็ข็ข็พ่), sweet potato vermicelli (่็ฒ), and mountain vegetables. If you want us to arrange a meal, contact us in advance at $15/person.
1:30 PM โ Three Natural Bridges (Tian Sheng San Qiao)
Drive to the Three Bridges scenic area (about 10 minutes from town). Take the 80-meter cliff elevator down to the valley floor โ you drop from the mountaintop straight into the base of the first bridge in seconds.
Stand beneath Tianlong Bridge (235m), then hike through the gorge past Qinglong Bridge (281m, the world's tallest natural bridge) and Heilong Bridge. At the base of Tianlong Bridge, find the ancient Tiansheng Official Post (ๅคฉ็ฆๅฎ้ฉฟ) โ the traditional Chinese courtyard building used as a key location in Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Allow about 3 hours โ there is plenty to explore, and the pace is yours to set.
5:00 PM โ Depart for Chongqing
Board the vehicle for the 3-hour drive back. Rest in the car or chat with your guide about Chongqing's food scene and evening plans.
8:00 PM โ Arrive Chongqing
Arrive at your hotel. If you still have energy, your guide can suggest a good spot for Chongqing hotpot nearby.

Good to Know
- Moderate fitness required: About 4-5 hours of walking total on well-maintained trails and stone steps. Some downhill sections in both scenic areas. Not recommended for severe knee problems.
- What to wear: Sturdy walking shoes with good grip. Trails can be slippery, especially after rain. Bring a light jacket โ both scenic areas are cooler than the city.
- Photography: Both the gorge and the bridges offer dramatic photo opportunities โ wide-angle lenses work best for capturing the scale. No tripods on narrow sections.
- Lunch: You can bring your own packed lunch from Chongqing, or eat freely at local restaurants in Xiannvshan Town. The local specialty is Wulong braised lamb (็ข็ข็พ่). If you want us to pre-book, contact us at $15/person.
